Lapis and Turquoise Earrings in Sterling Silver
Lapis and Turquoise Earrings in Sterling Silver
A bright pair of lapis with a pretty sprinkling of pyrite that looks like stars in the sky, is paired with bright blue turquoise and set in sterling silver. These pretty earrings measure just over 1 3/4-inches, (45 mm), from the top of the handmade ear wires to the silver balls below the turquoise. The blues coordinate so well together and these are sure to be noticed!
***Lapis lazuli was used for many things by the ancient Egyptians, who believed it held great power. It was thought to provide protection to the wearer as well as to shield him or her from negative influences. It was also ground up and used as eye shadow. The best quality lapis, a deep blue without much white calcite, is found in Afghanistan, with other sources in Russia and Chile.***
***Turquoise was one of the first gems to be mined. It gets its blue color from a combination of copper and aluminum. Turquoise is an alternate birthstone for December. Associated with the throat chakra, turquoise has long been considered a protective stone by many different cultures.***
Made with love, one pair at a time in my Sonoran Desert studio. xo
