I think this is an unusual and subtly dramatic ring! A faceted hematite measuring 12 x 16 mm is cut into a marquise shape. I've set it horizontally on the finger in an 18k gold bezel with a comfortable sterling silver band. The ring is simple to put all of the attention on the stone. The shape can also be considered an eye shape and it reminds me of evil eye jewelry worn for protection - which is appropriate since hematite is considered a protective stone. The stone has a low dome and the facets give it a lot of sparkle. The dark, charcoal, metallic gray of the hematite looks so pretty with both the gold and silver.
